On October 22, 2014, in the matter of Yvonne Dawson v. Roosevelt Hairston, Attorney Barber secured a Defendant’s Verdict from a New Haven jury in a personal injury action following a rear-end motor vehicle accident. The firm’s client admitted liability/responsibility for causing the accident, but there was a dispute concerning the injuries/damages claims. Attorney Barber successfully argued that the four plaintiffs – 3 of which were minors – could not prove by a preponderance of the evidence that they possibly could have suffered any injury due to the motor vehicle accident given the lack of severity of the impact and evidence of a pattern of pre-existing claims. The jury deliberated for nearly 40 minutes before finding in favor of the defendant.
