In the matter of Pernell v. Ortega, Attorney Barber secured a Defendant’s Verdict from a Hartford jury in a personal injury action following a rear-end motor vehicle accident

On June 4, 2014, in the matter of Pernell v. Ortega, Attorney Barber secured a Defendant’s Verdict from a Hartford jury in a personal injury action following a rear-end motor vehicle accident. The firm’s client admitted liability/responsibility for causing the accident, but there was a dispute about the injuries/damages claim. Attorney Barber successfully argued that the plaintiff could not prove by a preponderance of the evidence that he possibly could have suffered any injury due to the motor vehicle accident given the nature of the impact and his pre-existing condition. The jury deliberated for nearly 20 minutes before finding in favor of the defendant.
